Bio: Growing up, Cara was incredibly shy and insecure. She struggled with learning disabilities and a neurological disorder called Tourette Syndrome.  In 2005 she joined Toastmasters, an international speaking and leadership organization, which helped her gain confidence and literally changed her life.  Over the years she has won almost 30 speech competitions and has even stepped up on stage for a comedy open mic night.  But she says her biggest win is from helping others grow in their skills and confidence and believe in themselves!  As a professional public speaking coach, she helps clients overcome their fears and organize their material into compelling stories that inspire their audiences.

Talk description

Tourette Syndrome is often misunderstood as ‘The Swearing Disease’, but more commonly is represented by uncontrollable body tics. You might think that someone with Tourette Syndrome would run from the stage, but Cara runs to it. She encourages her public speaking students to share their authenticity and never hides from sharing her true self.

Come listen to a Tic talk that is not being banned by the federal government and actually needs to be heard so that it is truly understood.
